Vent: the contractor who told me spray foam was always better than batt insulation for garages
Was talking to a guy at Rona on 137 Ave who swore spray foam is the only way to go for Edmonton winters, but my neighbor did batt insulation in his detached garage 10 years ago and says his heating bill barely changed so who is actually right here?

Is spending that much on spray foam really worth it for a garage you're not living in?

Worth it for a garage you're not living in?" Yeah, I mean, unless you enjoy your car smelling like old paint and musty cardboard boxes. You ever open a garage door in July and get hit with that wave of wet towel smell? That's what you're paying to avoid. Plus, if you ever decide to sell the place, the next guy might actually want to park his car in a space that doesn't feel like a damp cave. But sure, let's save $500 now and spend $2,000 later burning a space heater every winter because your garage is basically a wind tunnel. It's like buying a cheap rain jacket and wondering why you're wet.
