Had to choose between shiplap and beadboard for my bathroom reno in Edmonton

I went with beadboard because I thought the shiplap trend was played out, but now I'm second-guessing it every time I see those vertical lines in my 1940s house. The beadboard took me four hours to install around the window, and I'm still not sure if I messed up the caulking. Anybody else flip-flopped on wall paneling and regretted it?

Stick with the beadboard for a few weeks before deciding - the vertical lines actually help older houses feel taller, and shiplap can make a small bathroom look like a barrel in 1940s homes. The caulking issue is fixable if you run a damp finger over it one more time while it's still wet, just don't overthink it. I did the exact same flip-flop in my 1950s bungalow and honestly the beadboard grew on me after I stopped comparing it to Pinterest boards.

You know what, you might actually be onto something here. I was all ready to rip out my beadboard and go full shiplap until I read your comment last night. The "barrel in a 1940s home" thing really stuck with me because my bathroom already has that narrow, cramped vibe. I went back and looked at it this morning and the vertical lines really do make the ceiling feel higher. And yeah, comparing everything to Pinterest is a trap, I fall for it every time. The caulking trick is genius too, I'm gonna try that tonight.
