Had to choose between laminate and luxury vinyl plank for my basement reno in Edmonton

I went with the luxury vinyl plank because my buddy said it handles the cold concrete slab better, and three months later the laminate I almost picked would've warped from the humidity in my sump pump room, has anyone else regretted their flooring choice after a wet spring?

Funny enough the thing nobody talks about with laminate in basements is how it amplifies every little sound. My neighbor put it in his rec room and you can hear footsteps from two floors up like someone's tap dancing on the joists. Vinyl plank at least dampens some of that noise and doesn't make your basement feel like a drum.

Huh, is that why my buddy's basement sounds like a bowling alley every time his kid drops a toy?
