Had a plumber tell me my basement rough-in was garbage

He said my vent loop was too low and would gurgle every flush, so I redid it with a proper AAV up high instead. Has anyone else had to tear out their own work after getting real advice?

And that plumber basically saved you from listening to that thing gurgle every single time you flush.

Hold up @blair_butler47, not everyone wants to chase perfect gurgle-free plumbing when the AAV might just fail later and cause other headaches. Sometimes that low vent loop works fine for years if you're not flushing every five minutes.

So the AAV thing is really a trade-off? I've seen those vents seize up after a few years in dusty basements. Then you're stuck with a worse problem than gurgling. But then again, if your loop is actually too low it'll suck air every flush forever. That constant gurgle drove my uncle crazy. He ripped out his whole setup after two years of it.
