Watch out for bad tape on big jobs

Last month I ran a whole basement ceiling with some cheap fiberglass mesh tape from a new supplier and it started bubbling up behind my mud after 2 days. Has anyone else had issues with tape that just won't lay flat no matter how tight you pull it?

Oh man, I feel your pain! I once tried to save a few bucks on tape for a garage and ended up with a giant wrinkly mess that looked like I mudded it with a blindfold. Tough lesson learned that cheap tape is just expensive frustration in a different package.

lol I actually read something about how some cheap tapes don't have enough adhesive tack to bond properly with the compound. That's why it peels and wrinkles. So it's not even just about the tape being thin, it's literally fighting the mud the whole time.
