The day I stopped backrolling mud and it was a game changer

I spent 6 months feathering out my mud joints like I was icing a cake until an old timer at the supply house pointed out my knife angle was off by 15 degrees. He showed me a 10 inch knife with a little more pressure and suddenly my joints laid flat on the first pass. Anybody else have a dumb habit that took someone else calling out to fix?

Icing a cake" is exactly how I felt for six months too, until someone finally told me I was holding the knife like a spatula.

That tiny knife angle thing reminds me how often we're just one small correction away from a breakthrough... @noah_black probably could've saved himself months too if someone had just pointed it out earlier. It's wild how we can repeat a bad habit for ages without ever stopping to question it.
