My first time trying hot mud vs. the premixed stuff I've been using for 8 years

I usually grab the bucket from the box store because it's quick, but last week on a garage job in Austin I had to mix up some 20 minute hot mud for the first time. That stuff sets up way faster than I thought, I almost lost a batch when my phone rang and I ignored the clock. Has anyone else switched and found it worth the extra hassle?

Gotta call you out on the "hot mud" thing. That's actually setting compound, not hot mud. Hot mud is the powdered stuff you mix yourself, the stuff that sets in 20 minutes. Setting compound is different from the premixed buckets you grab at the store.
