Just found out the average sheet of drywall weighs over 50 pounds
I was reading some old trade magazine at the supply house yesterday, waiting on an order. There was this little fact box about material weights. It said a standard 4x8 sheet of half-inch drywall weighs about 54 pounds. I've been carrying these things for 15 years and never really thought about the exact number, just that they're heavy. But seeing it written down made me stop. That's like hauling a big bag of concrete mix up a ladder, over and over. No wonder my shoulders are shot by Friday. It also made me think about how we just accept that weight as normal, but it's a real physical toll. Do you guys ever think about the actual weight, or do you just zone out and get it done?

Ever just zone out and carry them? I used to, but seeing the number really makes you feel it.

Yeah, the numbers don't lie, do they? It hits different when you actually look at it.

Wait, do you mean like you used to zone out and carry them without thinking about the weight? @thomas_johnson35 I think that's actually pretty common for a lot of people who do this regularly. But yeah, seeing the actual number on a scale or in a tracker really changes things, it makes it way more real than just guessing. I used to do that too, just grab and go, but once I started paying attention to the digits I realized I was way overdoing it sometimes. It's like your brain just gets used to the feel and stops noticing until you force yourself to look at the facts.
