Shoutout to the barista who pointed out my wallpaper was a knockoff

I was in a coffee shop in Austin last month showing off this cool geometric wallpaper I found on Behance and the barista just goes 'oh that's the cheap version of the one by that Polish guy.' She pulled up the original on her phone and boom, totally different details in the line weights. Has anyone else had a stranger just casually call out a design copy?

You ever caught a copy like that yourself? My advice is to screenshot the original next time so you can compare side by side before buying. I started doing that after someone pointed out my coffee table was a ripoff of a midcentury design. The knockoffs always mess up the proportions or use cheaper materials that don't hold up. A good test is to look at the corners and edges, that's where they usually cut corners.

Yeah my buddy bought a "vintage" lamp. The cord was glued on.
