We switched from a 6 inch to an 8 inch suction line on our cutterhead dredge last season. The silt removal rate in Mobile Bay went from about 80 cubic yards an hour to nearly 130.

We saw a similar jump when we went from a 4-inch to a 6-inch line on a project in the Delta. I mean, it just moves so much more material with less clogging. Made a huge difference for our schedule.

Bigger lines are always worth the hassle.
