Had to clear a jammed pump in the middle of the night, tried a trick with a grease gun.
We were pulling silt on a river job near Paducah, and the main pump got a solid rock jam at 2 AM. Couldn't get the access plate off, and the foreman was an hour out. I remembered an old hand saying he'd used a grease gun on the pressure line to push stuff back. Hooked it up, gave it three pumps, and the rock shot right out the intake. Saved us a four hour shutdown. Anyone ever try something that dumb that actually worked?

Man, that feeling when a weird trick from an old timer actually works is the best. Sounds like a total nightmare shift, stuck on the river in the dark. Those moments of pure relief when you avoid a huge shutdown make all the stress worth it. What did the foreman say when he finally showed up?

Yeah, it's funny how often those old-school fixes work when the official manual fails. @alice_barnes35, it makes you wonder what other simple knowledge we've lost by just replacing people with new tech. The foreman probably just shrugged and said "good job," completely unaware of the ancient river magic you had to use.
