Finally got my suction line maintenance time down from a full morning to under two hours.

I used to just eyeball the wear on the hoses and clamps during my weekly check, but after losing a whole day to a blowout on the Willamette last spring, I started using a caliper to measure the liner thickness and now I log it in a spreadsheet, so what's your best trick for catching wear before it fails?

My uncle swears by marking belts with a paint pen.

So what kind of paint pen works best for that? A buddy of mine tried it on his old truck's serpentine belt, but he used the wrong kind and it just smeared everywhere when the engine got hot. He spent an hour trying to figure out which squeal was his belt and which was just the radio. Your uncle @paige36 is onto something, but you gotta get the right paint.
