Saw a set of old hand-drawn blueprints at the county records office in Spokane. The detail on the hand-lettered notes was something else.

There's something about those hand-drawn letters that tells you how much time somebody spent getting every single detail right. You can almost see them leaning over the drafting table with a pencil and ruler.

That old-school detail just looks messy compared to clean digital prints today.

That same contrast shows up everywhere now though, not just in design. People pick convenience over character in all sorts of stuff like handwritten notes versus typed messages or home cooking versus takeout. The question is whether we're losing something real when we trade the messy human touch for perfect speed.
