Just realized the light in the old drafting room at my local community college is way better than my home setup

Went back there last Tuesday to help a friend with their CAD project and the overhead fluorescents plus the north-facing windows make lines look crisp. How do you guys fix bad home lighting without spending a bunch on ceiling mounts?

lol I taped a cheap LED strip to my monitor stand and it actually works wonders.

Actually Patricia Wright might want to check the color temperature on those cheap strips. The blue light from low-cost LEDs can mess with your sleep if you use the monitor late at night. I had a similar setup and started getting headaches until I switched to a warmer white around 3000k. A lot of cheaper strips don't even list the kelvin rating on the box, so you end up with that harsh office lighting vibe. It works for basic backlighting but you gotta be picky about the color or it defeats the purpose of reducing eye strain.
