That contractor in Spokane saved me $200 by showing me a leak I missed
Last month I was getting ready to rip out a whole bathroom wall to fix what I thought was a pipe leak. This old contractor walked through my house in Spokane and just pointed at the toilet base. He said "check the wax ring before you touch any drywall." Sure enough the wax ring was bad, not the pipe. I replaced it for $12 in 20 minutes. Has anyone else had a small fix save them from a huge project?

My dad found a loose wire in our fuse box that saved us from paying an electrician $400!

And honestly that's the kind of stuff that really adds up over time. My uncle saved himself like $800 last year just by tightening some connections in his breaker box. He watched a couple YouTube videos, figured out how to safely flip the main switch off, and went to town with a screwdriver. Of course you gotta be careful with electricity but loose wires are super common and easy to fix if you know what you're doing! Bet your dad felt like a hero after that one, haha.
