Pro tip: I was using the wrong size drill bit for my wall anchors for years.
My neighbor in Springfield saw me struggling and asked if I was matching the bit to the anchor's outer sleeve, not the screw. Has anyone else made that simple mistake?

Wait, you're supposed to match it to the OUTER sleeve? That completely changes the game. I've been doing it wrong my whole life too, just jamming in whatever bit looked close. No wonder my anchors always felt loose before I even put the screw in. This explains so many failed shelf projects.
