I was helping my uncle rewire his kitchen in Toledo and he insisted on using wire nuts for everything, even the new GFCI outlets. I mean, I get they're cheap and he's used them for 40 years, but I think Wago lever nuts are way safer and faster for a DIYer. What's your take on the old school vs new school connection debate?

My grandpa was an electrician in Detroit for fifty years and he swore by wire nuts. Said if you twist them right with lineman's pliers, they make a cold weld that won't come loose. Those push-in connectors feel like a temporary fix to me, like they might vibrate out over time. Why fix something that has worked perfectly fine in millions of homes for decades?

Man, I feel that pressure from the old timers. My dad still uses wire nuts and gives me side eye for my Wagos. What's the real risk of those lever connectors coming loose if they're installed right and inside a closed box?
