TIL those AI art generators can actually create some decent base images for digital painting now

I was totally against them, but after trying Midjourney for a month and using its outputs as starting points, my workflow is way faster and I'm still doing all the real painting myself.

My old painting teacher would have lost his mind over this. He made us do fifty thumbnail sketches by hand before we even touched a canvas. Using an AI to skip that grind feels like cheating the learning process. You don't build the same instinct for balance and focal points when a machine does the heavy lifting. It's a fast shortcut, but I worry it makes for weaker fundamentals down the road.
