That one guy at the gallery who told me my digital painting was 'just filters'

I spent 40 hours on a piece in Procreate, layer by layer, and he said that while not even looking at the brushwork notes I had printed out, has anyone else had someone dismiss digital work as cheating when they clearly never touched the software?

40 hours of work dismissed in 5 seconds, that's brutal man. People who've never opened a drawing app have no clue how much skill digital art actually takes.

This right here. Non-artists think digital art is just hitting "ctrl+z" a few times.

40 hours of work dismissed in 5 seconds" yeah that one got me. I read this thing the other day about how people think digital artists just hit a button and it's done. Like they think the undo button is some kind of cheat code or something. I remember watching a timelapse of a digital painting and it was literally hours of work, layer by layer, color picking and blending. People don't realize you gotta know the same fundamentals - anatomy, lighting, perspective - just like traditional artists. It's just a different tool, not an easier one.
