Serious question, is AI-generated art a valid submission for a digital art showcase?

I saw a post on another forum where someone argued it's just 'prompt engineering', not real art. My take is the artist's vision still matters, even if the tool is different. Where do you stand on this?

You said it's just prompt engineering, but idk, that feels like saying photography is just pressing a button. A photographer chooses the lens, the light, the subject. With AI art, you're still making a ton of choices, like the style, the mood, and refining the results over and over. It's a different skill, but the vision comes from a person. I mean, if someone puts in that work and the final piece is good, why shouldn't it count?
