Question about getting stuck on a character design for a client

I was working on a mascot for a coffee shop in Austin and the face just looked wrong for 3 days straight. On a whim, I opened a new file and drew it at 400% zoom, focusing only on the eyes and mouth. Suddenly the proportions clicked and I could see the issue. Finished the whole thing in about 2 hours after that. Has anyone else found that changing your view scale helps you spot design problems?

My friend Jake was stuck on a logo for a local bakery for almost a week. He printed it out, taped it to his bathroom mirror, and saw it every morning while brushing his teeth. On the fourth day, he just knew the swirl in the croissant was too tight. He fixed it in ten minutes. Sometimes you just need to look at it a different way.

Wait, you spent three days on just the face? Honestly that's wild.

Yeah, three days on a face feels totally normal to me. I once got stuck for a week just trying to get the light in someone's eyes right in a drawing. Kept redoing it, the whole thing looked worse each time. Finally just left it alone for a day and it was fine. You get stuck in these tiny details.
