Painted a portrait in Krita with only a mouse and it actually worked

I got stuck at the airport for 4 hours last month with no tablet, just my laptop trackpad and a $20 Dell mouse. Out of boredom I tried painting a portrait anyway, thinking it would look like garbage. To my surprise the shading came out smoother than my usual tablet strokes because the mouse forced me to slow down and be more deliberate. I ended up finishing it on the plane and folks online actually asked what brush pack I used. Has anyone else had a weird tool limitation actually improve their work?

Can't believe you actually wrapped a bamboo stick in foil, that sounds insane.

Airport delays are the worst... been there way too many times. I had a similar thing happen when I broke my stylus tip and had to use a bamboo stick wrapped in foil for a week. The roughness actually helped me build up texture in a way the smooth plastic never did. Sometimes the gear limitations force you to learn little tricks you'd never bother with otherwise.
