Maybe hot take but I don't think every digital art piece needs a complicated backstory

I saw someone in a discord last week say they wouldn't post their character design unless they had a 3-page lore doc, and idk, I feel like sometimes a cool pose and good lighting is enough to share without explaining their whole life story. Does anyone else just post art for the colors and vibes alone?

Honestly disagree with this one. The backstory is what makes the piece mean something beyond just looking good. Without it you're basically just posting a pretty picture that anyone could forget in five seconds.

Gotta push back a little here. Art can just be art, you know? Like I scroll through pinterest and half the stuff I save is just a cool color palette or a nice silhouette with zero context. Not everything needs to be a novel. A piece can hit you in the gut just from the composition and mood alone without needing a whole novel to explain why the character is sad or whatever.
