I finally looked up how much data a big digital painting file can actually use
Honestly, I was just cleaning out my hard drive and saw a folder of my old art from 2020. I had this one piece, a detailed fantasy landscape I made in Krita, that was over 800 megabytes. Tbh, I never really thought about it until I checked. That's like, more than two full length movies in standard quality. I found a blog post from a pro artist saying their final print-ready pieces can hit 2 or 3 gigabytes easy, with all the layers. It makes sense when you think about it, but seeing that number on my own file kinda blew my mind. I always just saved and moved on. Now I'm looking at cloud storage plans way different. Has anyone else been shocked by how big their project files get, and what do you do to manage it all?

Server farms" makes my external hard drive feel so small.

Did you see that article about game studios needing entire server farms just for their art assets? It's the same deal, just way bigger. They have to keep every single layer and version for years. Makes my hard drive look like a joke.
