Had my digital prints looking muddy for months until a gallery owner pointed out my monitor brightness

I was adjusting colors on my tablet at full brightness, but the prints kept coming out dark and flat from my Epson in Seattle. A gallery owner there told me to drop my screen to 80 nits and re-edit everything, and suddenly the colors matched what I saw on paper. Has anyone else had to recalibrate their whole setup after realizing their screen was the problem?

Yeah I read that most monitors come way too bright out of the box.

dropping brightness to 80 nits fixed my prints too.
