Had a breakthrough week with my digital portrait series...
I finally cracked the skin texture thing I've been fighting with for like 6 months now. Tweaked my brush settings after watching a Timelapse from an artist in Tokyo and suddenly it just clicked. Has anyone else hit that wall where you know what you want but your tools won't cooperate?

Felt that. Your brush just clicks one day and you wonder why you suffered so long.

joseph_lewis92 said "your brush just clicks one day," and that's true but I think saying it "just clicks" makes it sound more random than it is. You probably built up a lot of trial and error before that moment. Like with my skin texture thing, I spent months tweaking opacity and flow settings, watching tutorials half a dozen times before something lined up in my brain. It wasn't magic, it was just finally having enough practice to know what to look for. That "click" is really just your experience catching up to what you wanted to do.

Spent three whole days once trying to figure out why my digital watercolor always looked like mud. Turns out I was using 100% opacity on every layer and wondering why nothing blended. Felt real smart when I finally dropped it to 40% and suddenly my painting actually looked like watercolor. Ever had one of those "oh I'm an idiot" moments that changed your whole workflow?
