Why does nobody talk about the cheap infrared thermometer?
I grabbed a $40 one from the truck stop to check my 6.7 Cummins temps after a regen, and it showed a 40 degree difference between banks that my scan tool missed. Found a cracked up-pipe gasket I would have never caught otherwise. What's the one cheap tool you guys swear by that actually finds problems?

Hold on, you said a forty degree difference? That's wild... I'm with @danielm15 on being surprised a cheap tool spotted that. Those little infrared guns are way more useful than people give them credit for. I use mine all the time for quick checks around the house and on my own truck... catches weird hot spots you'd never feel with your hand.
