Was dead set against synthetic oil until I pulled apart a 6.7 Powerstroke with 320k on dino juice...

The sludge in the oil passages was so bad I had to scrape it out with a pick... finally convinced me to switch after seeing the difference side by side with a buddy's truck. Anyone else hold out on synthetics for way too long?

That line about the 5.9 Cummins hitting 400k on synthetic hits close to home @the_eric. I had a buddy with basically the same setup, and after seeing how clean his looked compared to my 7.3 that was on conventional its whole life, I switched over around 250k. The difference in how quick the oil drains back into the pan on cold starts alone sold me, especially with a turbo that needs all the flow it can get. Took me way longer than it should have to get on board.

Man hell yeah I feel you on this one. I was the same way for years, thought synthetic was just a marketing gimmick. Finally made the switch after my buddy's old 5.9 Cummins hit 400k on synthetic and still looked clean inside, meanwhile my truck with similar miles on conventional was a complete mess. Night and day difference when you actually tear into them. Now I won't run anything else, especially in anything with a turbo.
