Vent: That fancy injector puller I bought is now a doorstop

Had a Paccar PX-9 last week with a seized injector up in Spokane. Tried everything, heat, penetrating oil, the works. Finally said screw it and grabbed a big slide hammer from the rental place down the street. That cheap rental tool popped it out in 5 minutes flat. My 300 dollar specialty puller just took up space in my box. Has anyone else had better luck with brute force than with the fancy tools?

My buddy over in Portland told me he had the same thing happen with a Cummins ISX. He bought some expensive hydraulic puller setup and it bent the first time he used it. Ended up using a torch and a slide hammer he borrowed from a neighbor. I heard a shop foreman say once that these specialty tools are made for perfect conditions, but our trucks are NEVER perfect. Rust and carbon build up laugh at 300 dollar gimmicks. Sometimes the cheap stuff wins because it's simple and you can really get some force behind it.

You ever try heating the bolt first before you even grab a puller?
