Tried that 'diesel fuel additive' trick for sticky injectors on an old 7.3 Powerstroke

I was sure it was just snake oil, but after adding a bottle of Hot Shot's Secret to the tank and running it for about 200 miles, the rough idle cleared up. The truck is a 2002 model my buddy in Boise uses for his farm. Anyone have a different additive they swear by for these engines?

I saw a forum post where a guy swore by adding a little automatic transmission fluid to the diesel fuel on older 7.3s. He said the detergents in the ATF help clean the injectors over time. I haven't tried it myself, but he claimed it smoothed out his idle after a few tanks.

Stick with what works for you.

I put a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil in my old 7.3 once and it did quiet the injectors a bit after a few hundred miles, @phoenix845. I'd stick with that if you want something simple.
