That time a master mechanic told me to stop using air tools on injector hold-downs

An old timer named Gerry watched me zip off a set of injector bolts with my impact gun at a shop in Dallas during a 6.0L repair back in 2017 and just said 'you're gonna stretch those threads out by the third time, kid' and now I hand torque every single one after watching him do it right on his own truck, has anyone else run into a stubborn tech who refused to change their methods and turned out to be right about everything?

Wait, he SAID that to you in 2017 and it's been THAT long and you're STILL torquing them by hand? That's WILD. I had a guy at a parts store tell me something similar about glow plug threads on a old 7.3L and I brushed him off at first. Now I've got a set of injector holes with questionable threads I gotta helicoil next week. That old timer was ABSOLUTELY right.

Hand torquing is fine if you know what you're doing. Those old timers are just stuck in their ways and scared of new tools. I've been using a snap on torque wrench on aluminum threads for years with zero problems.
