Rant: Hit 200,000 miles on an engine I never bothered to check the oil on

I bought this old International 4700 for a side job back in 2021, and I just rolled 200k on the odometer with zero scheduled oil changes. I know, I know, that sounds insane, but the previous owner swore up and down they used synthetic blend and I just kept topping it off when the light flickered. Last month I finally pulled the valve cover and it looked like sludge city inside, but it still ran fine. Does anyone else run their trucks this sloppy or am I asking for a rod through the block?
