Just hit 5,000 hours on my old Cummins ISX and it still runs like a champ

I rolled over 5,000 engine hours last Tuesday on a truck I rebuilt myself back in 2018. The EGR cooler was starting to weep a bit, but the bottom end is still tight. Did a compression test and all six cylinders were within 5 PSI of each other. Has anyone else had a motor that just refuses to give up on them?

I mean, 5,000 hours is decent but it's not exactly breaking records or anything. Maybe it's just me but I've seen plenty of those ISX motors push past 12,000 before needing a major overhaul. That compression test is nice and all but it doesn't tell you much about what's happening inside the cylinders when it's under load. And that EGR cooler weeping is probably just the start of a bigger headache coming down the line. Not trying to rain on your parade but I wouldn't break out the celebration cake just yet.
