Gotta love when pure torque meets the wrong socket size. That 13mm bolt never stood a chance against a half inch gun. It's like using a sledgehammer to crack an egg, you just get a big mess. Nail on the head there. The guys who swear by brute force every time are the same ones who snap bolts and then wonder why. I've seen an impact wrench turn a simple brake job into a whole afternoon of drilling out a seized lug. That half inch gun on a 13mm is exactly the kind of thing that makes me reach for the breaker bar and some penetrating oil first. There's a time to get medieval on a stubborn fastener, but most folks use that hammer way too early.
