Hot take: A zip tie fixed a coolant leak on a 6.7 Powerstroke last Tuesday.

The plastic T fitting on the degas bottle line cracked, but a small zip tie cinched tight over the split held pressure for 48 hours until the part came in. Anyone got a better field-expedient fix for that junk plastic?

Ever try that self-fusing silicone tape? It bonds to itself, no sticky glue, and holds pressure really well on small splits like that. I keep a roll in every truck because that plastic gets brittle. Wrap it tight over the zip tie for a double layer, buys you more time than you'd think.

Silicone tape never seals right on greasy plastic.

That "junk plastic" is the worst. Good call on the zip tie, that's a classic get-you-home move. I've had that exact fitting let go on me too.
