Had to decide between a used Cummins and a rebuilt Cat for my service truck last month

Went with the Cummins because the Cat rebuild had a 6 month wait on parts. So far it fires up every morning at 5:30 without a hitch. Anyone else been burned by parts availability on Cats lately?

Man that parts wait is brutal, I feel your pain on that one. Plenty of guys I know have been sitting on Cat stuff for months waiting on basic things like filters or gaskets. Sounds like you made the right call with the Cummins, nothing worse than a truck that won't run when you need it most.
