I finally picked a color scheme for my aunt's website and it was a total mess
My aunt asked me to help with her small craft shop site, and I had to choose between a bright, pretty palette I liked or a high-contrast one. I went with the pretty one, using light pink text on a cream background. She called me two days later saying her friend with low vision couldn't read a single word. I switched it to dark blue on light gray, and she said it was like night and day. Anyone else have a simple rule for picking colors that actually work for everyone?

Honestly most people just zoom in if they need to. The web is full of bad color choices and the world hasn't ended. Your aunt's friend is one person.

My last website had gray text on a gray background. I thought it looked cool but my mom couldn't read a single word. What's the worst color combo you've seen online?

I read a study last year that said about 8% of men have some form of color blindness. That's why bright red text on a green background is a total disaster, it just turns into a blurry mess for them. I saw a gaming forum that used exactly those colors and the comments were full of people complaining. It's not just about taste, it can actually lock people out of using a site.
