Granite counter at my local coffee shop has zero contrast with the white plates

I was grabbing a latte at Brew & Grind in Denver yesterday and watched a guy with low vision literally feel around for his plate for a full minute. Has anyone else noticed how many coffee shops use high contrast tabletops but then put white dishes on them?

Yeah I switched to dark placemats at home for this exact reason. Made a huge difference for my mom when she visits, she can actually see where her coffee cup is now without having to wave her hand around. Simple fix but most places just don't think about it.
