Client told me my font choices were 'hard to read' and I pushed back until she showed me her screen

Turns out the thin sans serif I loved looked great on my retina display but was a blurry mess on her cheap monitor. Who else has had to completely rethink their font stack after one specific user callout?

My buddy designed a whole brand identity with this fancy light gray font, then his client tried to read it on an old iPad outdoors and basically said "what text?" It was a humbling lesson for him that not everyone has the latest gear (or perfect eyesight). He switched to a bolder, darker font that still looked clean but actually showed up for everyone.

My buddy @rowanp15 once used a super thin script font on a logo, looked great on his monitor but totally disappeared when printed on a napkin lmao.
