That one time a senior dev told me my Figma components were too rigid
He said I was designing like I was afraid of change, so I swapped to variants with multiple properties and now I can tweak buttons in seconds instead of rebuilding them, has anyone else had a dev call them out on over-engineering?

3 whole years I spent making component libraries that looked like museum exhibits before a backend dev sat me down and said "you know buttons can move, right?" I felt like I got caught building a fortress out of toothpicks. Variants with multiple properties changed my whole workflow too, but honestly it still hurts thinking about all those lost hours. Your dev did you a solid though. Over-engineering is just another way of saying you're scared of the file getting messy.
