Hit 1,000 components in my Figma library and now I'm scared to clean it up

Was looking at my team's design system yesterday and realized we've got 1,003 components just sitting there. Half of them are variations of buttons that nobody touches anymore. Has anyone else let their library get this bloated and found a painless way to audit it?

Count to 1,003 and just stare at the screen for a solid minute. That number is ABSURD. I can't even wrap my head around having that many components, especially half being button variations nobody uses. It's like digital hoarding at that point, right? You gotta rip the bandaid off and just start deleting stuff. Maybe run a usage report first to see what's actually being used in the last 6 months, then nuke everything else without looking back. Trust me, nobody will miss the 47 shades of ghost buttons.

Bro @michaelcoleman you been talkin bout my design system or what? 😂 I had the exact same freakout last year when I counted my component library and it was like 800+ things. Honestly I just started trashing anything that didn't get touched in 3 months and it felt so good. The dev team didn't even notice half the stuff was gone. You're 100% right about the ghost buttons too, like who actually needs 12 different border radius options for a button?
