Went from a $40 clamp lamp to a $240 articulating arm after a coffee spill

I used to just clip a clamp lamp to the back of my desk and aim it wherever, but last Tuesday that thing dropped right into my mug during a video call and shorted out my keyboard mid-sentence. Now I've got this fancy spring-loaded arm from a used office supply place in Portland, and honestly the difference is night and day for shadows on my drafting pad. Has anyone else here played the cheap lighting game and had it blow up on them, or am I the only one who's been spat on by their own setup?

Wait, did the clamp lamp actually fall because the screw stripped out, or did you just bump it wrong? I had one where the metal clip got bent over time and it would slowly sink down through the day until it was basically pointing at my lap, but never a full drop into a drink. Just trying to figure out if there's a warning sign I should've looked for before it got that bad.
