Vent: I finally caught why my monitor arm kept sagging

Kept adjusting my monitor arm every few days for like 2 months. Thought it was just a cheap arm from Amazon. Turns out I was clamping it to a desk with a lip that was too thick. The clamp jaw was only grabbing half the edge. I put a small wood spacer underneath and it hasn't budged in 3 weeks. Has anyone else missed something simple like that with their desk mounts?

Did you check the actual clamp mechanism too? Some of them have a little plastic buffer that wears down and lets the grip slip.

Gotta check the desk itself too. Some desks have a hollow core or a thin MDF top that'll just slowly compress over time under the clamp pressure. I've seen people use a small metal plate instead of wood to spread the load, keeps the desk from cratering underneath. Your spacer trick is solid but make sure it's not just a soft wood that'll squish down in a few months.
