Spent years avoiding a standing desk converter... finally caved

I always thought standing desk converters were a gimmick for people who wanted to look productive. But after my lower back started killing me 3 hours into every workday, I grabbed a cheap Vivo one off Amazon for like 80 bucks. Honestly it's been a month now and my back pain is way better, plus I actually move around more during the day. Anyone else find one of these things actually helped with something you were skeptical about?

Oh come on, you're still in the honeymoon phase. Give it another month and you'll realize those things are just a glorified shelf. I tried one for six months and my back actually got worse because I was standing in one spot for hours without proper support. Plus you end up just switching between sitting and standing constantly which never lets you actually focus on work. The real fix is getting your chair adjusted right and taking actual breaks to walk around. Not spending money on a contraption that takes up half your desk.

Is the back pain really that bad that you need to buy a whole new desk converter? I mean, I get that sitting all day isn't great, but people have been working at desks for decades without turning their workspace into a standing circus. A cheap foam roller or a quick walk around the block does the same thing for free. I just feel like we're always looking for a gadget to fix problems that aren't that complicated. But hey, if it works for you and you're happy, more power to you. I just don't see the need to make a big deal out of it.
