Simple desk lamp hack saved my eyes after 3 years of headaches

I work installing floors during the day but do design mockups at night on my home desk. My old setup had a single overhead light that cast a shadow right over my keyboard and mouse. After 3 years of squinting I finally tried putting a cheap gooseneck lamp on the left side of my desk angled down toward my work surface. Total cost was $15 from a hardware store. Now I can see my notebook and monitor without leaning forward. The direct light also cuts down the glare on my screen from the window behind me. Has anyone else found a simple lighting change that made a big difference?

wait hold on is this really that serious? a lamp fixed your "3 years of headaches"? i mean i get bad lighting is annoying but that seems like a stretch lol. sounds like you just needed any light source and you finally got one. people act like desk lamps are some revolutionary discovery when they've been around forever. glad your eyes are better but maybe blame the squinting on yourself for not trying this sooner. can't imagine suffering through 3 years of anything without just buying a cheap lamp.
