Rant: my monitor arm setup almost ruined my wrists

I used to clamp my monitor arm straight to the desk edge, thinking level was fine. Then 5 months ago I started getting sharp pain after long sessions, so I angled it 15 degrees toward me and raised it 2 inches. Now my neck and wrists feel normal, anyone else deal with arm position sneaking up on them?

I used to think the whole "ergonomic positioning" thing was overblown. I had my arm clamped flat and level for over a year, no issues, so I figured people just complained too much. Then I switched desks and had to set it up again, and I actually measured the height this time instead of guessing. I raised it about 3 inches and tilted it a bit, and I'm kinda mad now because the difference is night and day. My shoulders aren't hunched up anymore, and I don't get that weird ache in my forearms after a long day. So yeah, the 15 degree thing sounds odd, but I get it now. It's one of those small changes that you don't realize matters until you make it.
