PSA: That trendy wire shelving unit collapsed on me last Thursday
I was setting up my desk in the corner of my studio near Denver when the whole metal shelf above my monitor gave way around 2pm. The bracket clips just snapped off the vertical posts, sending a printer and three hard drives crashing onto my keyboard. What saved me was that I had already backed everything to cloud storage the night before, so I only lost a half day of work fixing the mess. Has anyone else had those modular shelves fail on them or am I just unlucky?

I switched to heavy-duty wooden crates from the hardware store and bolted them to the wall.

Wait @holly_flores79, bolting crates to the wall feels like overkill for a few books and knickknacks. I mean, unless you're preparing for an earthquake or a toddler tornado, is it really that serious? I just stack my stuff on a basic shelf and it hasn't crashed down yet. Feels like you're building a fortress for some paperbacks and a couple of picture frames. But hey, if it makes you feel safe, you do you.
