Overheard a designer say they only use one monitor now
I was at a coffee shop in Austin and a guy at the next table was telling his friend he got rid of his second screen. He said it cut down on clutter and made him focus on one task at a time. It made me think about how we all just add more stuff without asking if it helps. Has anyone else tried going back to a single display and found it worked better?

Sounds like a productivity hack for people who get distracted easily. Could never give up my second screen for coding though.

Ever see a dev friend try the single screen thing? He swore it would kill his flow but his PR merge rate actually went up, weirdly enough. Guess some brains just work better with less visual noise.

Seems like a lot of fuss over a monitor setup. People act like their whole career hinges on having two screens, but really it's just a preference, not some deep productivity science. I've seen plenty of devs switch to one big screen and do fine, their code didn't suddenly get worse. Maybe your friend just needed a change of pace, not a hardware revelation.
