My power strip melted and took out half my desk setup last Tuesday

Ngl I thought $15 was a good deal for a power strip. My whole monitor setup just died during a zoom call and I smelled burning plastic. Anyone else cheap out on power gear and regret it?

Ha, yeah I learned that lesson with a $10 toaster that almost burned my kitchen down.

Used to think cheap stuff was just as good (you know, the whole "it all comes from the same factory" myth). That toaster nightmare totally flipped my thinking though, now I actually read reviews before buying anything with a plug.
