My monitor arm critique changed how I handle cable routing
Six months back a commenter on my setup photo pointed out my cables were neat but too tight, causing strain on the ports. I loosened everything up and added a simple velcro loop near the desk edge for slack, and it made a huge difference in how easily I can adjust the screen. Has anyone else gotten feedback like that which felt picky at first but turned out to be solid advice?

Flip it around and ask yourself if that commenter was actually right. Tight cables might stress ports, sure, but loose cables can sag and pull the monitor arm off balance, especially if you're constantly adjusting the height. I've seen setups where people add all that slack and then the arm droops or the cable snags on a drawer handle because it's hanging too low. The real fix isn't more slack, it's learning to set your cable length for the most common position and not messing with it constantly. Most people adjust their screens like twice a month, so stressing over a little port strain is pretty overblown. Plus, velcro loops near the desk edge just look messy if you're not careful, and then you're back to square one with a janky appearance. Honestly, the picky advice worked for you, but it's survivorship bias at its finest.
